On the 4th August 2020 an explosion devastated Beirut, killing at least 220 people, injuring more than 6,000 and displacing over 300,000. Solace provided lifesaving advice to our clients who raised an SOS through our platform Solace Secure in the immediate aftermath of the explosion, quickly ascertaining the whereabouts and safety of clients in-country. Our 24/7 response team gave reassurance to the affected travellers and to line managers located elsewhere, informing them that their staff were accounted for and safe whilst providing continuous updates, as per the pre-agreed client protocols. We further supported those arriving in country through additional Journey Management services and helped in-country travellers relocate outside of the city to a safe location. Throughout this time, Solace posted frequent intelligence alerts to Solace Secure, detailing key updates of the situation as soon as they came in, on all occasions Solace shared intelligence updates at least an hour before the mainstream media, ensuring all clients were kept up to date with accurate information.
Over the past year Solace Global Risk have provided over 150 intelligence reports to our followers detailing the updates of COVID-19 as they happen across our social platforms and mailing list, with the aim of ensuring our audience have a direct and accurate source of intelligence to make informed decisions both professionally and personally. In the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, there was widespread devastation throughout the Caribbean. The result was an increase in crime rates, destroyed transport infrastructure, and enforced curfews. A British employee, working in the British Virgin Islands as a result of the hurricanes, was being supported by our vetted and experienced close protection team during this time; providing secure transport on roads as well as maritime vessels. His health rapidly deteriorated overnight, turning a journey management task into a medical repatriation. Our team were able to provide a swift response to escort him to the hospital, and thereafter to the airport, for the medevac back to the UK.
Filmed across Central and South America, a television documentary series followed the illegal narcotics trade and those within the drugs cartels. With filming dependant on in-country ‘fixers’ Solace helped to journey manage and provide inSIGHT monitoring services, including pro-actively communicating real-time vicinity incidents and tracking of the team’s movements.
Our 24/7 operations centre received instruction to crisis manage a missing person. With limited information and only a rough idea of last known location, we launched a time-critical investigation. With the help of our in-country network, we found the missing person and admitted them to intensive care within 8 hours of receiving the call. With security officers stationed at the hospital, we then transported the patient to the airport to be repatriated home for a full recovery. Having identified the person had been drugged and mugged, we also provided a follow up investigation.
In the wake of this natural disaster, crisis management services were required to locate our client’s personnel and dependants and to provide on the ground assessment and assistance, together with humanitarian aid and communications. Solace deployed our own UK specialist staff, in conjunction with our in-country agent network. Solace intelligence and tracking pro-actively monitored and supported the response team 24/7. The response team successfully located and assisted all client personnel and dependants, over 1000 km of challenging and dangerous terrain.
Solace Global provided comprehensive services for a visit by senior NGO executives to two destinations in central Africa. The visit included high-risk destinations and a tight schedule, requiring a dedicated level of logistical support, in addition to protection and intelligence monitoring services. Solace Global had a 36 hour surveillance window in which to capture evidence. The task involved mobile surveillance teams and Technical Surveillance Counter Measures across two countries. We were approached by a cruise ship company who were planning an around the world cruise. The vessel was due to call in over 30 countries with varied threat profiles, 5 of these were European (Malta, Italy, Spain, Portugal, UK). It was requested that we put together a high-level, detailed threat assessment outlining the security challenges and concerns. In response to this request, we were able to advise on whether or not they should call at their planned destinations or whether or not further security is advisable when undertaking shore excursions. The document which we produced consisted of a number of sections. Providing a summary report on the security profile for each country, highlighting key issues of specific concern, be that crime, terrorism, civil unrest, etc and specific locations with security challenges. We then offered general risk mitigation techniques for travellers and issues to remember at all times when abroad.
Solace Global were instructed to closely monitor a member of a family run high profile business who was suspected of breaches of conduct and wrong doing. Two mobile surveillance teams covertly monitored the daily movements of the individual giving live feedback to our client. Our experienced surveillance teams consist of former UKSF operators and former UK intelligence agency officers using sophisticated surveillance technology including vehicle tracking. We were able to provide a detailed report on his movements back to our client, evidencing their concerns.

Solace Global was tasked by the family office security team of an Ultra High Net Worth Family. The family including young children were planning a round the world holiday visiting multiple destinations across all time zones. Solace Global was tasked to provide the family with the Solace Secure travel tracking application so that they could be monitored daily by our 24/7 response team. The application would give them the ability to check in daily with us informing us of their location and would also allow us to respond in the event of them activating the SOS . Protocols were established with the family office security team of what to do in the event of a missed check in and in emergency situations. The family office were also provided with the Solace Secure platform enabling them to see where the family were but also knowing that the Solace Global operations centre would be monitoring 24/7 alleviating this responsibility from them. The Solace Global intelligence team actively monitored the location of the family and were always looking ahead at the next destination on the itinerary for any pertinent activity that may affect their holiday.
Nurse arrived in country, airport meet and greet and secure transport to the hotel and to visit the patient location to assess their condition and whether they were fit to fly. Once deemed fit, patient and accompanying nurse were given secure transfer to the airport for medical repatriation.
Solace Global was contacted by an executive protection team for a high-net worth individual concerned over specific protest group threats to a main London residence. At client request, Solace Global intelligence provided short duration consultancy services aimed at identifying threats to the individual and critically ways of mitigating the identified threats through appropriate intelligence monitoring. A bespoke client risk assessment was produced identifying threat groupings of relevance to the client in question and also identifying publicly available information that may have posed risk. Solace Global intelligence identified appropriate sources of information and methods of dissemination to allow the executive protection team to stay one step ahead of any threats. This pre-emptively minimised client exposure.
Solace Global were tasked by a High Net Worth family to conduct a security review of their holiday homes in Europe. The survey identified significant weaknesses and Solace Global was tasked to project manage the implementation of the security upgrade. Solace Global Risk deployed its own security consultants to conduct a comprehensive review of the risks, threats and vulnerabilities of the properties. Solace then identified the most practical, cost effective plan to upgrade the security always consulting the family for approval with regards to aesthetics and functionality. Solace also developed strategies and plans for emergency notifications and responding to incidents. Solace planned and oversaw the installation from start to final commissioning, testing and sign off.
Two international contractors were caught up in the deadly clashes between rebel and government troops, both sustained life threatening injuries; multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, with a collapsed lung and multiple shots to the leg, both with the onset of septicaemia. With airports and borders closed, the two injured victims were moved by vehicle (with armed security) to our carefully selected remote landing site where the medical helicopter was waiting with two doctors to medevac to a selected hospital in Kampala, Uganda.
As a ‘severe’ risk rated country, all movements in Iraq need to be carefully managed and planned. In this instance an armoured vehicle with armed guards and escort enabled the safe journey to the airport for evacuation. In support of travel security we produced risk assessments, intelligence, journey management planning and continuous monitoring.

Sailor suffered a head trauma at sea. Brought to shore in the Sevastopol, in the contested Crimea territory. Our client requested us to support a medical repatriation, which would require an air ambulance. Due to the political climate at the time, clearances for aircraft to land were significantly difficult and required multiple flight sectors and secure ground transport.
