The Role

As head of business development, you will take control of the ongoing sales strategy within the risk management department, with full autonomy to make a significant impact in a well established, yet rapidly expanding business. The role requires a senior candidate, with at least 5 years experience within the risk management industry and a minimum of 8 years experience in business development and/or corporate strategy.

Your key responsibilities will be to generate new leads and relationships with potential clients, create opportunities within untapped areas of the industry and develop outstanding rapport with new and existing clients. You will be supported by an experienced business development assistant, marketing manager and customer success manager, and will report directly to the Managing Director.


Key responsibilities:

  • Understand the Solace offerings and service lines in detail, help promote these and grow these in line with client needs and market changes
  • Effective use of CRM system to record all client/potential client discussions, requirements and feedback
  • Drive revenue and profit growth through effective sales
  • Development and implementation of a business development plan
  • Build and maintain an in depth understanding of our target audience and our competitors
  • Retain, manage and grow existing clients
  • Support BD and Marketing during webinars, conferences and events
  • Represent Solace Global Risk Ltd at customer meetings
  • Develop and source Channel Partner relationships globally
  • Assist with marketing to develop new client journey processes, plus support for design, campaigns and delivery as required
  • Sound knowledge of LinkedIn to digitally represent Solace Global
  • Contribute to service innovation, identify potential growth through adaptation of existing services and products
  • Provide additional Risk Consultancy capability when required
  • Be part of the Solace Global Risk Ltd management team
  • Comply with company policies and procedures

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in business/sales/marketing or similar applicable course and 8+ years’ experience in business development and/or corporate strategy
  • Minimum of 5 years Risk Management industry experience, experience in SaaS also desirable
  • Proven success B2B Business Development/Sales and achieving targets and helping sales teams achieve their targets
  • Delivered growth in business units through sales of risk management/assistance services
  • Development and execution of business development plans and financial modelling
  • Experienced in multi-service business development to small, medium and large corporate enterprises
  • Experienced in successfully running multiple customer accounts
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to persuade and influence senior decision makers
  • Exceptional presentation skills, able to deliver impactful presentations and sales pitches
  • Excellent team player, who is able to work effectively in a global team environment
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills and effective time management
  • Deep understanding of marketing principles and digital marketing
  • Comfortable with designing the sales strategy to align with the company strategy
  • Success in selling service products through strategic partners
  • Experience of managing channel partners
  • Experience of management of business development team and collaboration with marketing to support messaging and sales
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and complete tasks to deadlines
  • Experienced in the Microsoft Office suite including SharePoint


Key Relationships:

  • Position will interact with customers and prospects at all levels of management
  • Position will align with Marketing to support the BD effort and support our marketing, messaging and branding
  • Management of BD personnel
  • Collaborate with the Customer Success Manager


Other requirements of the job:

  • Prepared for international and national travel
  • Prepared to work outside of normal office hours when tenders, proposals, events, presentations or projects dictate
